Hello everyone, I’m a healthcare worker helping people with HIV. I want to know how you deal with side effects from your medicines. What helps you stick to your treatment and feel better?

Hi . This is a difficult question. Dealing with side effects can depend on a lot of factors, such as time living with the condition, any particular medical issues (whether HIV related or comorbidities), and extent of the side effects - just to name a few. I want to share with you this article which compiled thoughts from some of our contributors on issues faced by long-term survivors: https://h-i-v.net/answers/long-term-survivors.
Also, here is an article from Robert on taking control of his treatment plan: https://h-i-v.net/living/control-of-my-treatment-plan. A sense of control over one's situation matters. Along those same lines here is article from Quincy on questions for the doctor, including things like managing side effects: https://h-i-v.net/living/questions-healthcare-provider.
Treatment fatigue can also be an issue and our editorial team wrote about that here: https://h-i-v.net/clinical/treatment-fatigue-and-hiv.
Hope this information is helpful and that others chime in with some thoughts. Best, Richard (Team Member)
